Menswear indie Trunk Clothiers is unveiling a standalone accessories shop, Trunk Labs, on Marylebone’s Chiltern Street on June 15.
Located a few doors down from Trunk Clothiers, Trunk Labs will stock accessories from a selection of brands including Aesop, Brooklyn Museum, Comme des Garçons, Common Projects, Eye Respect, Futagami, Ichizawa Hanpu, Rimowa, Tender Co. and Valextra.
The 30 sq ft store, which will be decorated in grey and concrete flooring, aims to create an “inviting environment, matched by impeccable servce.”
Owner Mats Klingberg said Trunk Labs will make it “easier for men seeking ways to add that small extra touch to their clothes, home or office.”
He added: “We’re taking a very wide approach when defining what an accessory is, from ties and pocket squares to luggage, bags, shoes, belts and small leather goods, as well as grooming products, stationery, eyewear, homewear and even furniture. Labs stands for luggage, accessories, bags and shoes but the idea is to also see it as a lab where we can test different things that we love and discover on our travels near and far.”
However, he said there were still no plans to open a womenswear store, despite receiving “requests from women every other day”.
To celebrate the opening, the store will be hosting a Monocle Country Fayre, at the nearby Midori House.
Since opening in 2010 Trunk Clothiers has won the Walpole Brands of Tomorrow prize, which celebrates excellence in the luxury sector and scooped the Premium Independent Retailer of the Year title at the 2012 Drapers Fashion Awards.
