Two more designer indies join Cavern Walks line-up

Liverpool indie hotspot Cavern Walks has added two new businesses to its designer offer.

The Cavern Walks shopping centre is home to the likes of top independents Cricket and Drome, as well as designer brand Vivienne Westwood. It has now added womenswear independent Amethyst and lingerie store The Corsetorium to its portfolio.

Amethyst’s 647sq ft store has brought new labels to Liverpool including Australian designer brand Camilla and Marc, By Malene Birger and 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent.

Co-owner Kate Derefaka, a recent fashion graduate, said the store was unique in Liverpool. She said: “We do a lot of exclusive brands, and we knew there was a market here for that. We’re a little more edgy than Cricket or Drome, and different to the Liverpool One shopper who shops at Debenhams or John Lewis. Myself and my co-owner are on the shop floor all the time so we offer that boutique experience.”

The Corsetorium has signed a 713sq ft shop which sells brands including Vollers, Valkyrie, What Katie Did, Kiss Me Deadly and Burleska. It also sells 1950s vintage lingerie.

Owner Allison Fernandez said the business relocated from a small shop on Bold Street to expand the offer. “This allows us to put in more international brands, more lingerie and some womenswear,” she said.

The Cavern Walks centre is owned by Agora Shopping Centres Fund, which is a joint venture between property fund Warner Estate Holdings and Bank of Scotland.

Warner Estate senior asset manager Suzanne Walker said the new additions to the centre would help maintain its positioning as a provider of exclusive designer labels.

She said: “We always try to have higher-end retailers in Cavern Walks which create an exclusive boutique shopping experience that is unique in Liverpool. The new Liverpool One scheme is more middle market but it will help drive footfall to Cavern Walks, which already complements the more premium Metquarter shopping centre.”
