British menswear brand Hackett has lost two senior members of staff in the past couple of months, Drapers has learned.
Financial controller Jonathan Whitwam left this week after almost three years, while director of creative services and store development Michael Carey left in April after almost a decade. Neither will be replaced.
The brand said last week that it was closing the UK press team as part of “cost-saving measures”, resulting in the loss of three jobs. However, a spokeswoman stressed that this was the only department to close; Whitwam and Carey left separately of their own volition.
The spokeswoman said Carey has moved to New York and will continue working with Hackett when it looks to expand into the US at an unconfirmed later date. His responsibilities now sit with head of visual merchandising Matthew Thurston and head of store development Natalie Snell.
Whitwam’s responsibilities have been divided out within the finance team.
