John Lewis saw a 300% increase in sales of Ugg boots last week and sales of cashmere also rose 4% against the same week last year.
John Lewis said that sales of Radley's recycled umbrella, which features in its Christmas advertising campaign, saw a 70% uplift in sales against the previous week.
John Lewis said that this weeks' sales (between Sunday and Wednesday) were consistent with the previous two weeks' performance.
Director of selling operations Dan Knowles said: "We continue to grow trade week on week in the ramp up to Christmas, with particular strenghts in toys, childrenswear, perfumery, and craft-related merchandise. Our customers are showing a real desire for great value this season, and our Never Knowingly Undersold promise, as ever, gives customers the certainty that John Lewis delivers the great value our customers want. Although the market remains difficult, we continue to gain share, in part driven by our strong value proposition."
