UK attendance soars at Pitti Uomo

International visitors to last week’s Italian menswear show Pitti Uomo in Florence rose by 7.6% with Brit attendance outstripping that, putting in a stonking 20.4% rise.

By contrast, Italian domestic market visitors rose by 2%.

Overall some 20,000 buyers visited the spring 12 edition - 12,500 were Italian and 7,500 were from overseas markets.

Total visitor numbers, incuding agents, suppliers and press, were in excess of 32,000.

Other countries to put in significant uplifts on attendance included Germany (+ 9.7%), Japan (+ 10.6%), Holland (+ 18%), Turkey (+ 25.6%), South Korea (+ 17.7%), and the United States (+ 33.2%).

Raffaello Napoleone, chief executive of Pitti Uomo organiser Pitti Immagine said: “The top buyers from all the most important international shops and department stores came to Florence where they found innovative men’s fashion projects and collections that will certainly lead to significant results on markets next season.”
