UK shoppers to spend £7.8bn over Black Friday weekend

UK shoppers are set to spend £7.8bn, an increase of 7% year on year, over the four-day Black Friday weekend.

Consumers in the UK will spend £3.1bn online from Friday 24 November to Monday 27 November, VoucherCodes and the Centre for Retail Research have predicted.

Cyber Monday will overtake Black Friday to be the biggest spending day of the period: shoppers are forecast to spend £2.6bn, up 6% on 2016, on the high street and online, compared with £2.59bn on Black Friday. 

Most sales on Black Friday are also expected on the high street (£1.45bn), compared with £1.15bn online. 

The report also states shoppers are set to spend 5% more in-store (£1.33bn) on Cyber Monday than online (£1.27bn).
