UK sneaker etailer for women launches

A new UK online business focusing solely on trainers for women has launched.

The etailer, which is called Second Store, is based in Leeds.

The online shop stocks sneakers from footwear brands Saucony, Superga, Karhu, Veja, Spring Court and Norman Walsh, as well as emerging designers Rose Rankin and Good News London.

Founder Rosie Lyness said she identified a gap in the market for a store offering women’s sneakers that “bridge the gap from high-street favourites to luxury footwear”.

She said: “It is something I have dreamed of doing for a very long time so to see it come to life is pretty magical. I can’t wait to build the site into every girl’s go-to sneaker store.”

She added that the store takes its name from French intellectual Simone de Beauvoir’s feminist text ’The Second Sex’.
