UK visitors inspired by trends at SIL

Salon International de la Lingerie (SIL) remains a key show for the UK market, buyers at the Paris show said last week.

Harvey Nichols, Rigby & Peller, John Lewis, Selfridges, Harrods, House of Fraser and Figleaves.com all made the trip to Paris and buyers were impressed with autumn 07 ranges.

HoF buyer Amanda Lepar said: "It was probably one of the best shows I've visited. The collections were really strong, with Princesse Tam Tam and Chantelle looking particularly good. We'll be introducing Simone Perele and Huit to our brand mix for autumn 07."

Rigby & Peller head of buying Nicky Clayton said the collections were more trend-focused this season. "The trends are very precise, with black, red and metallics featuring across most brands."

Harrods assistant buyer Natalie Dangerfield said the department store would be increasing its budget for autumn 07 by 10%. "We've seen a move away from overt sexiness to a prettier, more feminine look."

Chantelle label manager Tiffany Berrier said she saw more UK buyers than last year. "We've had a great show, with Harrods, John Lewis and Selfridges all placing orders. Animal print was particularly popular."
