Universal Works opens Soho store

Menswear label Universal Works is opening a standalone store on Berwick Street in London’s Soho district.

The 771 sq ft shop will open at 40 Berwick Street next month. It joins other labels such as Nudie Jeans, Underground Shoes, Percival, Oliver Spencer and Footpatrol to take units in the area.

Universal Works launched for autumn 09, founded by former Paul Smith staffer David Keyte. The Berwick Street store will be its second standalone shop, following the launch in Lambs Conduit Street last year.

The brand is designed to be “wearable, sustainable and affordable products that go against the grain of fashion trends”. It has 45 stockists including Manchester independent Oi Polloi, premium etailer Togs & Clogs and Liverpool retailer Weavers Door.
