Unsold stock website hits UK

A website that allows brands to shift unsold stock has launched in the UK.

Private Outlet, which was founded in France in 2006, sells discounted designer brands direct to consumers, six months after the clothing was available on the high street.
The business buys stock from brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Lejaby, Superdry and Calvin Klein and sells them with discounts of up to 80% off via “Sale events”.

Shoppers sign up to free email alerts from Private Outlet that tell them when a Sale will take place and which brands will be available.
Consumers then have about three days in which to buy items from www.privateoutlet.com. About six Sales take place every month.

The company was founded by David Rosenthal, Michael S. Levy and brothers Cyril and Yoann Andrino.

President Cyril Andrino said: “The site allows UK brands such as Superdry to get more international recognition, and enables international brands to have a presence in the UK.”

Andrino, Private Outlet’s parent company, has specialised in buying over-stocks from brands for more than 30 years. Private Outlet operates in France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the UK, and delivers to 12 European countries.
