Urban Beach expands in bid for new stockists

Surfwear and outdoor brand Urban Beach has ramped up its offer for spring 14 as it looks to add 200 new doors in the year ahead.

Urban Beach has increased the number of pieces in its range from 100 to 500, across both clothing and footwear. It is introducing new categories such as denim, cargo pants and closed-toe canvas shoes.

Wholesale prices range from £15 for a cotton t-shirt to £50 for a waterproof jacket. The brand, which has 500 UK stockists including Extreme Central in Milton Keynes and Boardwalk in Newquay, Cornwall, as well as international distribution in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Benelux and Russia, is hoping to grow within its existing accounts as well as finding new customers.

Simon Hampton, sales and marketing director of supplier Wilton Bradley, which owns and distributes Urban Beach, said it would target coastal towns: “There is a real need for an affordable surf and outdoor brand that sells product that is on-brand and fit for purpose.”

Wilton Bradley turned over £16.2m in the 2012 calendar year, with a pre-tax loss of about £46,000.
