Urban Outfitters is adding another store to its growing London portfolio with a Camden branch planned to open in July, after the retailer opened at Marble Arch in February.
The US young fashion retailer is also planning three more stores before the end of this year in Nottingham’s Victoria Centre, Amsterdam and Cologne, which will take it past the 40-store mark in the UK and Europe.
The Camden branch, for which it is currently recruiting staff, will bring its London store count to eight.
Urban Outfitters creative director Stephen Briars told Drapers the company’s expansion strategy was on a “one-by-one” basis and it was not looking to grow rapidly.
“We’re quite happy to continue as we are,” he added. “We have been in Europe for nearly 15 years now and it has taken us that long to build up 37 stores, so you can see how we approach it as a company.”
Briars said Urban Outfitters was looking across Europe for opportunities and “in time” will slow its UK expansion as it moves into new countries, although he gave no further details.
Urban Outfitters was also among the retailers taking space in the new Trinity Leeds mall, which opened last month.
