Value Retail to open discount shopping village in China

Value Retail, the company behind discount shopping outlets Bicester Village in Oxfordshire and Kildare Village in Ireland, is to open its first outlet in China.

According to reports the 600,000 sq ft outlet will be called Suzhou Village and will be located in Suzhou, 50 miles west of Shanghai. It is due to open in stages with the first phase opening in summer 2013.

The first phase will have around 125 stores occupying 250,000 sq ft but ultimately the centre, which will be modelled on Bicester Village, will have 300 stores of between 1,000 and 5,000 sq ft each.

The outlet will offer a minimum of 35% off many of the same brands that are located in Value Retail’s European centres such as Michael Kors, Coach, Ralph Lauren, Sergio Rossi, Belstaff, Missoni, Ugg, and Yves Saint Laurent.
