Victoria Beckham appoints new CEO

Victoria Beckham’s luxury womenswear brand has appointed former Diane Von Furstenberg (DVF) CEO Paolo Riva as its new chief executive.

Riva will take up the post in September. Prior to DVF, he has also worked at Salvatore Ferragamo, Tory Burch and Valentino and has held leadership positions in the luxury sector for more than 16 years.

He will join the Victoria Beckham brand with the aim of boosting its geographical and product expansion, and increasing the brand’s direct-to-consumer business.

The news follows the arrival of Ralph Toledano as the brand’s new chairman, who joined the business in March 2018.

In April, it was rumoured that the brand was looking to slim down its workforce, as losses rose by 78.4% in the year to 31 December 2016, after it invested in design, production, sales and marketing.

The company posted a £8.5m loss after tax, which deepened from £4.8m during the previous financial year.
