Video: Crocs launches drone delivery pop-up store

Crocs Japan has launched a pop-up shop which uses drones to deliver shoes to customers.

The shop, called the Aerial Store, will run from March 5-8 at Tokyo Midtown mall in Akasaka, in the west of the capital.

Shoppers can order a pair of shoes using an iPad which will then direct the drone to collect the shoes from a specially designed set of shelves. Using GPS the drones pick up the item and deliver them to the waiting shopper.

About 80 shoes will be displayed on the shelf, and the drones can carry weights of up to about 600 grams.

Crocs said it believed this is the first time this has been done in store.
