Video: House of Fraser Christmas ad

House of Fraser has released its first brand-focused Christmas TV advertisement for more than a decade.

‘Be you, no matter who, this Christmas’ features feature models from the campaign talking to camera as if at a casting session, discussing Christmas gifting and how they are looking forward to the festive season. The models then nominate someone special to them, who arrives on camera to be surprised with the perfect gift.

The retailer has not run TV adverts focusing on its brand since 2003, although it has promoted its festive season Sale.

  • Certainly cheap to film versus others.

  • A somewhat pretentious ad which is style over substance, though that in itself arguably sums up House of Fraser.

I actually think HOF would of been better not doing an ad at all. Does it really make any difference in sales? If you're a company that is profit making and has large reserves - none of which apply to HOF - then you can afford to push the boat out at Xmas, hence why we have this cheap ad.
