Vivienne Westwood back in the black

Vivienne Westwood has returned to profit after reporting a loss last year as a result of settling a tax bill.

According to The Independent, the designer has posted a profit of £435,292 for 2011. Sales were up 7.1% to £25.5m while gross profit rose 39% to £10.3m from £7.4m the previous year.

The business previously reported a loss of £610,275 in 2010 after was forced to settle a tax bill of £348,463 plus interest of £144,112 in the same year after the UK business was found to have been selling her label across the globe without permission.
