Vivienne Westwood to axe catwalk for digital show

Vivienne Westwood will show a digital presentation of its autumn 18 men’s collection to press and buyers, instead of hosting a traditional catwalk.

As part of Westwood’s ongoing focus on being more environmentally friendly, the designer will release digital images and video content of the collection on Monday 8 January at 2pm during London Fashion Week Men’s.

Westwood said: “We’re looking forward to showing our winter collection, which instead of a catwalk, we will present through the form of film and imagery, so you can get a good look at it and love it as much as we do. Buy less, choose well, make it last.”

The designer saw operating profits drop by 45% to £1.4m in the year to 31 December 2016, as the company said the cost of sales increased by 19.9% during the period “due in part to a weak GBP following Brexit”.
