Vogue has confirmed it will hold the second edition of its international Fashion’s Night Out shopping event in September. The event will take place in London on September 8 and will be held in a further 15 cities.
The first event, held last September, saw 125 shops on London’s Oxford Street, Bond Street and Regent’s Street take part. The event aimed to entice recession-hit consumers back into fashion stores. It ran across 13 countries including the US, Paris, Mumbai, Beijing and Moscow.
Paris will kick off the event this year on September 7 and it will run for 12 days across Korea, Australia, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, India, Russia, the US, China, Japan, Taiwan, Greece and Turkey as well as the UK. Each country is seeking department stores, designer boutiques and shops to host events aimed at boosting footfall.
Jonathan Newhouse, chairman of Condé Nast International, publisher of Vogue, said: “The international Vogue editions lead the effort to support shops and fashion in their markets around the world through this unique event.”
Last year, Mulberry and Jaeger confirmed that the event boosted footfall, while womenswear chain Oasis said its series of events, including screening The September Issue at its flagship store, generated a 50% sales uplift across the 21 stores taking part.
