Vogue's Fashion's Night Out dates announced

Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out, the global shopping event, will be held in the UK on September 8.

The event, which is designed to encourage shoppers to part with their cash through a series of promotional events in a string of stores in cities around the world, will be held in 17 countries with all events taking place in September.

The first night will kick off in Russia on September 6, and Spain will follow on September 7. Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Portugal, Brazil (São Paulo), UK and USA have all chosen September 8 for their events.

Brazil will hold a second event in Rio de Janeiro on September 9. Taiwan and India will follow suit on September 10 and China on 11. Greece and Turkey will be the last countries to hold events on September 15.

Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out launched in September 2009 to encourage shoppers into stores during the recession through a number of store initiatives and events. The second event was held on September 8 in the UK last year and generated almost double the footfall compared to the previous year.

Alexandra Shulman, editor of British Vogue, said: “We’re delighted to draw people’s attention to the fact that fashion and retail are a hugely important and enjoyable part of the country’s economy - last year we had 270 stores in central London participating, while shoppers embraced the mood in what felt like one large party. We’re looking forward to an even bigger and brighter night later this year.”

Vogue also launched Fashion’s Night In last November for etailers. It is unclear whether another online event will take place this year.
