Volcom ups retail portfolio in France

Streetwear brand Volcom has continued its retail expansion with two new stores in France.

The label, which is owned by French luxury group PPR, has opened five other stores this year but on October 20 launched a store in Chamonix and at ski resort Les Deux Alpes on October 26. The brand now has a total of 12 stores across Europe.

The 2,045 sq ft Chamonix store hosts a selection of technical outerwear and streetwear. The store also includes features such as a photo station built inside a gondola, where customers can take a picture of their visit.

The brand, which is based around board sports including surf, skate and snowboarding, said: “Through these new retail openings, the brand can now finally claim its rightly earned spot as a key player in the European snow outerwear business.”

Last week parent company PPR reported that like-for-like sales had grown 6.6% in its third quarter to €2.6bn (£2.09bn) in the three months to September 30. However the company reported that Volcom’s revenue had contracted during the period due to delivery delays.
