Walpole CEO Michelle Emmerson to exit

Michelle Emmerson is set to leave her position as CEO of Walpole early this year.

Emmerson has been CEO of the luxury trade body, whose members include Alexander McQueen, Harrods and Burberry, for four years.

She joined Walpole from Asos, where she was director of group services and people until 2013. She has also previously worked for BBC Worldwide and EMI Music.

In addition to her role at Walpole, Emmerson also holds advisory board memberships at digital enterprises SupaPass and Shop Direct, and is a non-executive director at social influencer marketing agency Come Round.

In an email to the members of the organisation, Walpole’s chairman and Harrods managing director Michael Ward said that he will now become executive chairman, and will work with Emmerson to create a smooth transition before she leaves in the early part of this year.

He thanked Emmerson for what he called “her outstanding contribution to the success of Walpole”.

“Michelle developed and managed a transformation plan to implement a new strategy for the organisation: to develop, promote, protect and inspire the luxury sector at home and overseas.”
