Warkentin bolsters Amazon's European fashion arm

Amazon has appointed Stylistpick co-founder Juliet Warkentin as creative and brand director for Amazon Fashion EU.

It is thought this is a newly created role and serves to further underline Amazon’s ambitions to cement itself as a credible fashion retailer.

Walkentin will report into Sergio Bucher the vice president of Amazon Fashion EU.

It follows the appointment of Drapers’ executive editor Jessica Brown as head of fashion in 2011.

Warkentin most recently held the role of chief creative officer at Stylistpick from May 2011 until June 2013. Prior to that she was content director at fashion forecasting agency WGSN from September 2007 until May 2011. She was also previously an editor at Drapers [Drapers Record] from 1993 until 1996.

In the week to December 1 the etailer enjoyed its biggest week ever for fashion sales by volume, selling more than one million items of clothing and footwear.
