Warm weather lifts fashion sales

Fashion like-for-like sales rose 4.6% for the week to 10 June, marking the first positive week for in-store fashion sales in four weeks.

This was up against weak comparisons from last year, with sales down 8.10% during the same week in 2017.

Clothing sales grew 6% for the week, with footwear up 4.5% on a like-for-like basis. This resulted in an adjusted average of 4.6%.

BDO’s high street sales tracker revealed that fashion sales have been positive in five of the last ten weeks, as the warmer weather encouraged shoppers to update their wardrobes.
