Newly appointed JJB Sports chairman Sir David Jones told the Times that the struggling sportswear business was “salvageable”, following a board reshuffle at the company.

The Sunday Times also reported that one of the UK’s biggest landlords is considering cutting service charges to help cash strapped retailers.

Prudential is in talks about cutting the charges in shopping centres and retail parks, as well as rent cuts for hard up retailers, according to The Sunday Times.

Woolworths staff will receive one day’s extra pay as the collapsed high street chain postponed the closure of 200 of its shops from last Friday to last Saturday.
