Fashion sales have risen by more than 5% as a result of higher footfall and summer sales, the latest high street sales tracker from BDO shows.
The tracker showed that average fashion sales were up by 5.62% for the week to 1 July, compared with a fall of 2.03% in the same week in 2017.
Clothing sales had risen by 27.04% and footwear sales rose by 10.18% for the week.
BDO stated that summer sales had helped revenues: ”With the sun shining and footfall up, consumers continued to update their summer wardrobes, with in-store fashion sales now positive in three of the last four weeks.
”Summer discounting continued to be evident this week and appeared to have helped to boost sales.”
However, the figures were less positive for the month of June as a whole, as overall sales dropped 1.7% and fashion sales were down 2.3%.
