Whistles has opened a store in Dubai and will open another in Doha early next year, in partnership with Middle Eastern retail company Al Tayer Group.
The 1,100 sq ft store in Dubai City Walk 2, which opened last week, offers womenswear, menswear, footwear and accessories. It features polished brass and white powder coated wall fixtures, handmade terrazzo stone and marble tables and plinths, as well as a grey polished concrete floor and mid-century brass pendant lighting.
“We are delighted to be bringing Whistles to the Middle East. It is an accessible brand that promises to appeal to women and men in their everyday lives,” said Al Tayer Group lifestyle senior vice president Richard Peace.
Whistles chief executive Jane Shepherdson added: “We hope to introduce many new customers to the brand, and welcome our existing customers to our wonderful new store in City Walk.”
South African retailer The Fochini Group acquired a substantial majority shareholding in Whistles for an undisclosed sum in March this year. Foschini has more than 2,700 stores and 20 retail brands spanning clothing, lifestyle, jewellery, accessories, sporting goods and homewares. It also bought 85% of Poppy Holdco Ltd, which trades as Phase Eight, for around £140m in January 2015.
