Whistles sales grow 15% as it opens new stores

Whistles’ sales grew 15% to £56.7m in the year to January 2014, with like-for-likes up 8%.

EBITDA was up by 38% to £4.7m.

The business opened three new UK stores during the period, including a flagship in London’s St Pancras station and a store in the Bullring centre in Birmingham.

It also launched a menswear range for autumn 14, which is available in 24 stores, online and in Harvey Nichols. Whistles said the range “has been very well received” and is understood to be considering a standalone menswear store.

Internationally, Whistles launched in the US through Bloomingdales and continues to trade well in Hong Kong and China with Lane Crawford.

Russia and Europe are also growing markets, both online and through concessions.
