Whistles to launch in the Asian market

High street retailer Whistles will commence trading in China and Hong Kong in a partnership with luxury department store Lane Crawford in August.

Three existing Lane Crawford stores in Hong Kong and the newly-opened Shanghai store will carry a selection of 60-odd pieces from Whistles’ premium range, Limited Edition, as well as best-selling items from its core collection, such as cashmere knitwear and silk dresses.

The collection will also be available at Lane Crawford online.

The move sees the launch of the next phase in the brand’s wholesale expansion strategy, following from the retailer’s debut London Fashion Week last season.

Earlier this year Whistles opened in Berlin department store Kaufhaus des Westensin, adding to its existing locations in Printemps, Paris and Tsvetnoy Market in Russia.

The launch caps off a period of steady growth for the brand, which experienced 20% increase in like-for like sales in 2012. The business has also reported double digit growth in like for like sales up to April 31.
