Womenswear bolsters fashion sales at John Lewis

Fashion sales at John Lewis grew 4.3% year-on-year in the week to 5 May, driven by good growth in womenswear and women’s accessories. 

Womenswear sales rose 9.2% for the week, compared to the same period last year, with sales of women’s accessories up 6.8%, including sunglasses which soared 20%. For the 14 weeks to 5 May, fashion sales grew 1.4%.

Overall sales at John Lewis rose 1% for the week, buoyed by customers buying warm weather products and competitor price match promotions.
