German premium brand Hugo Boss will launch a womenswear range under its Boss Green label for autumn 10 and is targeting 100 UK stockists within three years.
The launch follows the success of the golf-inspired Boss Green menswear label, which debuted in 2004 and has recorded double-digit sales growth since 2007.
The 110-piece womenswear collection will target the premium end of the market with designs inspired by preppy sportswear and heritage golfwear. Wholesale prices will range from £41 for a jersey polo to £65 for trousers and £44 for a shirt, while outerwear will start at £130.
Hugo Boss is planning to structure the womenswear offer into two main collections, with three drops of product per collection.
Alongside the existing Boss Green men’s stockist base the brand is targeting premium department stores and independents, as well as golf clothing retailers, to take the women’s range.
José Janga, senior head of creative management at Boss Green, said: “We’ve proven with Boss Green menswear that a collection that offers high quality, great price and a value architecture, carried by a strong brand image, can outperform the market in times of recession.
“We want to translate the strengths of the Boss Green menswear collection to womenswear.”
