Jil Sander Navy eyes new recruits

Jil Sander has outlined plans to grow its UK wholesale business with the launch of a lower-priced womenswear collection called Jil Sander Navy for spring 11.

Retail prices for the collection will be about 40% lower than the designer label’s mainline, which retails from £150 to £2,490, and will have younger and more casual styling.

Jil Sander chief executive Alessandro Cremonesi said: “There will always be a market for luxury, but this will encourage more repetitive buying from core consumers and bring new consumers to Jil Sander.”

He added that the launch would allow Jil Sander to increase the selling space and number of doors it has with wholesale partners, as well as attracting stores with a younger target customer to become stockists.

Jil Sander has eight UK accounts including Selfridges and Harvey Nichols in London and London designer indie Browns.

The Navy collection will be delivered from January 2011. Lightweight jersey, soft knitwear and abstract prints will feature.
