Yoox Net-a-Porter Group smashes sales record

Etailer Yoox Net-a-Porter Group celebrated its best ever day of sales on Black Friday, up 82% year on year, while sales over the weekend soared by 50% against 2014.

Cyber Monday on November 30 became the group’s second biggest day of sales on record, after it sold one item per second during the 24-hour period.

The US accounted for the largest proportion of sales, followed by the UK.

Over the five days from Thanksgiving on November 26 to Cyber Monday, 41% of sales were made via mobile devices. Smartphones led the way making up 60% of mobile sales.

The most expensive item sold was Kimberly McDonald 18-karat gold, crystal opal and diamond earrings, purchased by a customer in San Francisco for $27,307 (£18,197).

In fashion, the most expensive item sold was a Saint Laurent Asymmetric zebra-print sequined wool mini dress for $14,943 (£9,957) purchased by a customer in Phoenix, Arizona.
