Yves Saint Laurent has appointed Versus Versace creative director Anthony Vaccarello in the same role, with immediate effect.
Vaccarello, who joined Versus Versace in 2013 as a consultant and became creative director last year, announced he was leaving the Italian design house this morning.
Vaccarello replaces Hedi Slimane, whose departure from YSL after four years was confirmed on Friday.
Francesca Bellettini, president and chief executive of YSL, said: “Anthony Vaccarello impeccably balances elements of provocative femininity and sharp masculinity in his silhouettes. He is the natural choice to express the essence of Yves Saint Laurent.”
