Athleisure retailer Zakti is launching childrenswear for the first time in September.
For autumn 16 there are 86 styles priced from £10 for vests to £85 for down jackets.
Avril Moran, Zakti’s head of buying, said: “Parents are buying into more technical garments for their children, and we felt there was a gap for affordable activewear for this audience and have decided to introduce this in Zakti.”
Mountain Warehouse, which owns Zakti, decided to enter the market following the success of its children’s outdoorwear range created with TV presenter and adventurer Steve Backshall. Childrenswear sales at Mountain Warehouse jumped 53% in the first 10 weeks of the financial year.
Zakti launched in November 2015. It has four stores in the UK, and is opening three in Canada and one in the US in September. Childrenswear will be available in all shops.
