Etailer Zalando has launched a pick-up service allowing shoppers to collect goods at more than 3,500 newsagents, petrol stations and supermarkets across the UK.
The service, operated by logistics provider Hermes, will be rolled out to 5,000 points by the beginning of 2015. Zalando said it would provide a “greater level of convenience” to customers, as they are not restricted by delivery or opening times.
The company offers a similar service in Switzerland, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark.
Zalando also plans to launch an app this summer to add to the “ease of the shopping experience”.
Robert Schütze, Zalando’s UK country manager, said: “Thanks to the responsive design of the Zalando website our customers can already shop from any device, but the launch of the app will mean a significant improvement in the user experience when shopping from mobile devices.”
