Zara stablemate takes first step on UK shores

Zara stablemate Stradivarius has taken its first step into the UK market with the launch of a transitional site.

The young fashion retailer, owned by Inditex, launched a UK arm of its website yesterday (September 3).

The site features photos, lookbooks and videos and allows users to shop the latest collection by searching for colours, sizes and prices.

Inditex, which also owns Zara, Pull & Bear and Massimo Dutti, has expanded its European presence for the retailer, launching online simultaneously in Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxemburg and the Netherlands.

Stradivarius has 794 stores across 53 countries.

In its latest results sales at Spanish fast-fashion group rose only 5% to €3.06bn (£2.59bn) for the first quarter, despite opening 49 new stores.

The company said net income had also risen by only 2% to €559m (£370m) for the period, while total earnings before tax fell to €559m (£472m).
