Oscar de la Renta

The Look:
With their 1980s power-coiffeurs De La Renta’s models were all about statement making, and that meant texture, surface detailing and rich bright colours - De La Renta hallmarks, all. In among the super luxe looks like the leopard print silk wool, gold jacquard coats and lame skirts there were tweedy dresses to add a traditional edge while textured knits looked easy-to-wear as did the double faced wool separates that opened the show. But for full on glamour there were few in New York to match De La Renta’s bejewelled gowns

Key Pieces:
The monochrome floral ball gown with the poufe netted layers undermined the previous riot of colour, Here were canary yellow puff sleeved silk dresses, tomato red floor-length strapless silk gowns with oversized bow and draped purple one shoulder numbers.
