Paris Fashion Week: Chanel

A romantic interpretation of regency dress inspired by Beau Brummel and Karl Lagerfeld’s signature look of fanciful monochrome and bolero touches was showcased on the Chanel catwalk at Paris Fashion Week yesterday.

White net and cotton pleated wrist trims and high-stacked, white Elizabethan-style collars contrasted against black, dandy tailored jackets with velvet lapels.

Black sequin dresses with gothic-style sheer, wing-sleeved overlays added a touch of glamour, while candy pink cashmere over sized knits with matching tights sweetened up the look. An injection of colour came via jade highlights on geometric jewellery. Other accessories included a flat, boater style hat.

Tight monochrome harlequin print jumpsuits were teamed with the classic Chanel boucle jackets as were black leather spray-on pencil skirts and black drop-waist dresses with necklines slashed to the navel, which added a Parisian twist for evenings.
