Kim Jones certainly has the knack.
With so many men’s brands referencing their history while reinventing signatures, it’s perhaps only Burberry’s Christopher Bailey who could claim as much success on the fashion week circuit as the Louis Vuitton men’s style director. For autumn 13, Jones presented a vision of luxurious exploration and travel - so far, so Vuitton - while applying modern techniques for a look that felt both current and referential. Jones used his Himalayan travels as inspiration with the snow leopard at the centre, from a needle-punched cashmere pattern to a cartoon motif (created by artists Jake and Dinos Chapman) on a jumper.
In short The dramatic padded jackets, pin-sharp tailoring and bespoke Chapman-print pieces were winners. A leopard doesn’t change its spots, and why would it when they look this good?
