10. Sergio Bucher, vice-president of fashion for Europe, Amazon

Sergio Bucher from Amazon Fashion

Last year’s position: 7

Sergio Bucher certainly had a lot to shout about in 2015. In August Amazon proudly opened a 46,000 sq ft photography space in Shoreditch, London, the largest in Europe. Boasting the capacity to create more than 500,000 exclusive images each year, the multimillion-pound studio is dedicated to supporting Amazon’s rapidly growing European fashion business. Under Bucher’s watch Amazon also launched its one-hour delivery service to parts of central London in June for its Prime subscribers.

Business in general boomed, with profits rising 85% year on year to £51.3m and sales climbing 23% to £16.5bn in the three months to September 30. Growth was driven by the Prime Day promotion on July 15, marking Amazon’s 20th anniversary, which promised more deals than last year’s Black Friday.

In 2016, all eyes will be on Bucher’s mooted brave strategy to encourage Amazon to move into own-label fashion and what this could mean for the etailer’s ambitions to become the biggest player in online fashion retail.
