From sales assistant to head office, Aoife McCormick’s stellar rise through the ranks at Oasis started with a part-time job at the retailer’s Dublin flagship while studying Graphic Design at the National College of Art and Design.

By the time she graduated in 2008 with a first-class honours degree in Visual Communications, McCormick was already a published illustrator with work in GQ. Recruited straight out of college by Ireland’s largest department store, Dunnes Stores, she worked across rebranding, advertising and PoS design.

In 2011 her illustrating talent was spotted by a UK publisher and an international five-book deal soon followed for a range of quirky illustrated A-Z guides. However, putting the offer on hold, McCormick pursued her dream job at Oasis as multichannel design manager at its east London HQ.
“Since I joined Oasis has really developed as a brand and I have loved being involved in that,” she says with pride. “I have an amazing team and get to work with so many talented people. There’s never been a more exciting time to work in graphic design.”

Jill Gate, Oasis’s head of marketing and PR, believes McCormick will take that sense of excitement all the way to the top. “Aoife stands out because of her enthusiasm, personality and creativity. She motivates others around her and is a great brand ambassador.”
