When your company’s chief operating officer describes you as a future managing director or chief executive you know you’ve got a bright future ahead of you. And this is just how Oasis chief operating officer Hash Ladha describes Briony Garbett.

“Briony joined us from Javelin Group and has made the most amazing transition from consultant to a leader with operational accountability. She is intelligent and personable and has brought great experience having worked across many global brands,” says Ladha.

Garbett graduated from Oxford University with a BA in Psychology, Philosophy and Physiology in 2007. She spent more than five years at Javelin before joining Oasis in December 2012, where she heads up the ecommerce team and is responsible for growing the online business in the UK and internationally.

“My first boss at Javelin Group, Richard Wolff, was a huge advocate of the ‘how hard can it be?’ mentality which has really encouraged me to view everything as possible.”

When asked who she admires, she cites Angela Ahrendts for reinventing the Burberry brand, and adds: “I also have huge admiration for Tamara Hill-Norton, founder of Sweaty Betty, for building such a successful brand in what can be a very tough and technical market to crack. I love the fact that she has built a business and a team who appear to live and breathe the core brand values.”
