Dave Shaw

Dave Shaw’s passion for tailoring began at 15 when he went into occasionwear specialist Tux ‘n’ Tails in Edgware, north London, to hire a suit and walked out with a job. Starting as a Saturday junior sales assistant in 2001, he was soon managing all its nine stores.

Balancing a degree in Fashion (Retail) Management at the London College of Fashion with work at the occasionwear business, Shaw was also assistant manager of the Crombie concession in Dickins & Jones on Regent Street in 2004. During his degree, he started an internship in retail operations and customer relationship management at Mulberry. After graduating in 2008, an ecommerce internship at designer brand Luella followed from December 2008 to April 2009, coinciding with a personal shopper role at’s Marylebone store from December 2008 to November 2009. He left the shop floor for a brand marketing manager position at Moss Bros Group, with responsibility for 16 Hugo Boss franchises and 10 Cecil Gee multi-brand stores.

When the Moss Bros fashion division was sold off in December 2010, Shaw became marketing manager for all the remaining 140 group stores. In June 2013 promotion beckoned to local marketing and partnerships manager.

For Lisa Mears, Moss Bros PoS manager, Shaw’s character stands out from the crowd: “Dave thrives on challenging perceptions and loves to engage as many people as possible. He has a knack for diffusing awkward situations through off-the-cuff humour, yet retains a sense of professionalism.”
