Country manager/lead buyer, Vero Moda UK, aged 27
“I feel like I was born to be a retailer,” says Hayley Wallis, country manager and lead buyer at womenswear brand Vero Moda, which is part of Danish brand house Bestseller.
At just 27 she is the most senior member of staff for the brand in the UK, and has built up her team and the business here along the way. “I spend a huge amount time developing my teams through coaching and challenging them on a day-to-day basis.
I also work on the strategy side of the business brainstorming marketing activities, brand direction and the retail route of the UK.”
Alongside this she is the lead buyer, where she constantly looks for the next big thing and pores over last year’s sales data to ensure growth.
Wallis credits Mark Hayes, who managed her at lingerie label Triumph, for encouraging her obsession with spreadsheets, as well as Bestseller country manager Allan Vad Nielsen for motivating and believing in her.
Vero Moda director Frank Lohan says Wallis’ ability to combine commercial acumen with product knowledge is “impressive”. He adds: “She is determined, focused and she will go far.”
