Founder, Holland Cooper, aged 27
Jade Holland Cooper turned her fascination for British-made luxury goods into her day job by launching her own premium men’s and womenswear label in April 2008. “Everything from accounting to staff management, designing, brand development, website building and retail falls under the many hats I wear,” she says. “It’s not been easy but I haven’t regretted it once.”
Greg Tufnell, business adviser for Holland Cooper and former managing director of Burton, Mothercare and streetwear brand Boxfresh, recalls Holland Cooper’s early days. “A typical week would involve Jade loading her van with stock for a show, setting up the pop-up, staffing the show and [blogging]. Then it would be phone calls to suppliers and customers followed by marking out and cutting fabrics ready for manufacture. The following day might involve a customer appointment, modelling for a new photo shoot or signing off cheques. She is a credit to her business and to her brand.”
The hard work paid off when the brand launched in Harrods in 2012. Holland Cooper, which is manufactured in England, has eight stockists in the UK and Republic of Ireland and two in the US. It also counts David Beckham as a customer.
