Jenny Griffiths is part of a new generation of young people making their mark in the fashion industry - those who combine a love of aesthetics with algorithms. Her mentors includes tech guys Bob Schukai from Thomson Reuters, Justin Cooke from Innovate7 and Bill Sermon and Chris Thompson from Viadynamics.

“I first started coding the algorithms that power Snap Fashion when I was studying Computer Science at the University of Bristol between 2005 and 2009,” she explains. “I’m one of those people who always struggles to find the looks I’m after on the high street or online. Searching by images seemed like the obvious thing to do. After graduating I worked for an engineering company as a project manager for a couple of years, which taught me discipline and project management skills.”

In 2012, Griffiths launched Snap Fashion, a website and app that allows shoppers to match a picture of a garment they’ve seen in a magazine or a photo they’ve taken with a similar product they can then purchase. Griffiths says: “Snap Fashion is my absolute passion and I’m working on it 24/7.”

More than 150 retailers are on board, including New Look, Topshop, Net-A-Porter and Selfridges.
