Creativity and a commercial eye has put Laura Campbell ahead of the pack at Coast. She started out in merchandising at French Connection in July 2009 but decided to make the switch to buying at Coast. Campbell has worked on Coast’s exclusive range to Debenhams as well as the main dresses collection, and run the international department for the past two and a half years, selecting product and developing a range for the Middle East.

In the past six months she has focused on Coast’s eveningwear dress collection and the international business stream, which she says has been her biggest achievement. “I have built a successful range of specially tailored styles for the Middle East market, growing it from 8% to 20% of the market’s range. I have also managed to build a cohesive range for the German market. At times this has been a challenge as it is a very tough market and has involved me travelling throughout Germany to gain a better understanding of the customer,” she says.

Buying director Andrea Hickman says since joining Coast in 2011 Campbell had stood out from the crowd. “I’ve watched her work hard. She is a grafter, and has worked hard to stand out. She has a strong profile among the executive team, and sees the value that these relationships will support her growth,” she says. “I feel Laura has the ability to become a buying director in the future.

Her fresh approach among her peers shows a can-do, will-do attitude. She doesn’t expect her career to be handed to her on a plate, and is not afraid to work hard.”
