Senior resourcing partner, Arcadia Group.
It’s not all about buying and design - just ask Rachel Wicks.
She started out in 2008 with an internship at recruitment firm Michael Page and says it was an “easy decision” to accept a graduate role on completing her Management BA at the University of Sheffield in 2009. After 10 months working in the financial services division, she became a graduate and intern resourcing consultant in 2010. There she uncovered her passion for working with young people, launching a part-time internship scheme and running an employability workshop programme across UK universities.
However, she wanted to switch to retail. When a resourcing partner role came up at Arcadia, she went for it and started in March 2012. Initially, she looked after buying and merchandising graduate recruitment for BHS and Dorothy Perkins, later also taking on Topshop, Topman and Wallis, as well as the Finance Graduate Scheme. Wicks was promoted to senior resourcing partner in July 2014. She describes her biggest achievement as her involvement in Arcadia’s school work experience programme, launched in February 2014.
Arcadia’s group resourcing manager Deborah Lally foresees a bright future for her: “Rachel is highly ambitious and I envisage she will have a promising career in HR at Arcadia.”
