30 under 30: Tomorrow’s people

When Drapers brought together the 30 under 30 from our Next Generation supplement, we asked them what being selected for the annual list has done for their fledgling careers.

“To me it feels great to be part of Drapers’ 30 under 30, because it shows you that young people can break into the fashion industry and make their mark. I quit university myself, so I hope this proves to other young people that you can still do it.”

“Just being nominated by the wider Coast executive board was a great feeling, so to be chosen as one of the 30 is amazing.”

“I’ve had a really positive response with a lot of people reaching out to say well done. I’ve had a couple of good opportunities come from it as well - one from a manufacturer for product placement for a really big film.”

“A lot of people I’ve worked with in the past have been in touch and it has helped get my face out there, which is great because I’m a Northern boy and not in London. I’ve always wanted to be in the feature, so it’s a real achievement.”

  • Lily Rice, Founder, Lexie Sport

“I went to the Next Gen Academy before I launched my own brand and I remember then thinking ‘wow these guys have achieved so much before they were 30’. So being selected is great. I think it will be a great stepping stone.”

“Now when I speak to suppliers they instantly know who I am. Everyone says the training at an independent is not comparable to a big corporation, but I proved them wrong by going into Drapers. I now hope to move into buying for the high street.”

  • Cheryl Morris, Senior visual merchandising and point of sale manager, Matalan
